11 year old boy recovers quickly to freedom from spectacles

A 11-year-old boy had high minus power detected. With his increasing age and height, his power grew steadily to approximately -10.5 spherical with -2.25 cyl in Right eye and -9.5 spherical with -0.75 cyl. in left eye by the age of 16 years. The first thing he did when he got up in the morning was to hunt for his spectacles. He was functionally blind without them. He had a restricted field of vision which gave him eyestrain for all digital work. He felt like being chained with thick spectacles for lifetime. When he expressed his grief to his treating doctor, she assured him treatment for spectacle independence after he turned 18 years and his power stabilized.
